An update on me, my music, etc.

Posted by BeeFef - July 31st, 2022

Since I haven't uploaded any music in quite a while (except short clips on Instagram) and am barely on NG these days, I wanted to update people on what I've been doing, how I've changed, and how I've been.

First of all, if you look at my music submissions, I haven't posted anything since 2020. This is likely due to both the pandemic and personal/family matters, and how they've affected my physical & mental health (and still are). My ADHD and anxiety seem to have gotten worse over the last couple of years, and it seems to have affected the rate at which I complete and release songs.

Second, I haven't been putting many of my songs on Newgrounds in the past 2.5 years, because of what I explained in this forum post. It wasn't the most well-received post, but maybe I'll upload at least 1 or 2 of those tracks at a lower bitrate, and then provide a link to buy the song in higher-quality audio. Honestly, though, I make so little money from my music anyway, that I don't care that much about it.

And also, I've been going through a bit of a musical metamorphosis. Sometime last year, I started to dive into the world of music that's not tuned to 12-tone equal temperament. Because if you think about it, if you live in a developed part of the world, chances are, you barely hear any music tuned differently. We're missing out on all these different chords, melodies, etc. that you could get by tuning your instruments differently. For example, 46 equally-spaced notes per octave blows 12 per octave out of the water when it comes to tonal variety while actually still retaining potential to sound good, at the cost of having more notes to deal with. So I've been spending less time getting deep into newer song projects, and more time exploring tonality and planning and designing different things to greatly encourage musical change (I still plan on releasing some more tracks in normal tuning, though, because they would be ones that I started a while ago).

So yeah, I might upload some more music to NG starting sometime this year.
